CurriculumPostgraduate fellowship · Kuwait
The KEUS Fellowship is for senior emergency physicians specialising in emergency ultrasound. Fellows log every scan with their own interpretation. Faculty review the clips blind, score them and write back.
The fellowship
The KEUS Fellowship is a postgraduate fellowship in emergency point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in Kuwait. It is for senior emergency physicians who are specialising in emergency ultrasound.
Fellows scan patients in the emergency department. Every scan goes into the program's QA platform with the fellow's own interpretation. A faculty member reads the clip without seeing that interpretation, then scores it and sends written teaching feedback.
Each interpretation is then checked against the outcome: CT, surgery or the clinical course. Over time, that shows how accurate each fellow is.
What the program does
Fellows scan in the emergency department across the core diagnostic applications, from FAST/eFAST and focused cardiac to lung, aorta and ocular.
CurriculumFaculty give their own read of each clip before they see the fellow's. Then they score entrustment from 1 to 5 and send written feedback.
How review worksUltrasound-guided procedures are logged too: central lines, nerve blocks, paracentesis, pericardiocentesis and others.
Guided proceduresThe program runs the one-month POCUS rotation for Kuwait Board of Emergency Medicine residents. Fellows and faculty confirm the residents' scans.
Resident rotationWhere fellows scan
Fellows and residents scan across emergency departments, including these hospitals.
Our story so far
Resident rotations used to be tracked in Excel spreadsheets. In October 2026 the whole record moved into a single digital logbook. Residents now log at the bedside on their phones, and a senior confirms each scan.
